Background
In early 2006, Ed Heaver and Julian Sargeson were alcohol retailers with a problem in the UK. The local authority had decided one of their sites was consistently serving under-age people.
Wave after wave of local authority 'stings' resulted in them losing a licence.
Unfortunately, Ed and Julian had no way of fighting back. They wanted to check their staff, measure the site performance and demonstrate to the authority they were taking the issue seriously. They couldn't find a company providing a cost-effective service so they decided to do it themselves.
And so Serve Legal was born
Since then, the business has grown to become the market leading provider of test purchase services and, with the addition of Damon de Mestre as Director, brought its services to Australia.With our extensive database of mystery visitors we can cover any site at any time.Independent research has shown that up to half of all licensed premises still fail test purchases and many retailers are feeling the pressure.
With COVID-19 across 2020 and 2021, we have also been involved in broader compliance auditing, allowing businesses to monitor their performance and keep their staff, customers and the community safe.
